The joint COP29 Presidency and Multilateral Climate Funds event: Catalyzing climate impact

As the challenges of accessing climate finance continue to grow, country platforms have emerged as a vital solution for developing countries. These platforms aim to streamline the often fragmented climate financial architecture, making resources more accessible for impactful climate initiatives.

We have unique mandates that position them to enhance cooperation among stakeholders in climate finance.

This session, aims to showcase the collective efforts of the Multilateral Climate Funds in addressing climate finance challenges, highlight the role of collaboration between the MCF system in strengthening the climate finance ecosystem and enabling countries to achieve their climate goals

Since 2010, the Adaptation Fund has committed over US$ 1.2 billion for climate change adaptation and resilience projects and programs, including over 175 concrete, localized projects in the most vulnerable communities of developing countries around the world with 46 million total beneficiaries. About half of its projects are in Least Developed Countries or Small Island Developing States. It also pioneered Direct Access and Enhanced Direct Access, empowering countries to access funding and develop local projects directly through accredited national implementing entities and was the first climate fund to fully operationalize the global principles of Locally Led Adaptation.
